Challenge 
National investment was available for capital across primary care networks in the North and East of England regions, which required the submission of a clinical strategy for each bidding primary care network (PCN).

Our work 
We led the development of primary care clinical strategies for more than 30 PCNs across the North and East of England Integrated Care Systems. This involved taking an in-depth view of the population health challenges and obtaining an understanding of the healthcare inequalities, using the Core20 Plus 5 approach, to analyse, consult and develop clinical strategies tailored to each PCN, whilst also taking account of how these fits into the wider landscape both locally and regionally. We liaised with PCN Clinical Directors, advising the PCN of how to tackle these challenges and working with them on strategic long-term planning.

Outcome 
Submission of over 30 clinical strategies, one for each PCN, describing a delivery plan for primary care networks in the short to long-term including transformation of services, workforce expansion and investment in digital capabilities.
