National Strategy for Non-Emergency Patient Transport Services (NEPTS)
Challenge
A high-profile nationwide conversation took place involving NHS England and national voluntary care organisations and patients and the public, around the much-needed redesign of patient transport services across England.
Our work
Our team spearheaded the implementation of a national strategy on non-emergency patient transport services (NEPTS), which involved a radical transformation in how these services are developed, commissioned and delivered, with the aim of having fair and equitable patient transport services across England.
Outcome
We led the development of a change in policy on the healthcare travel costs scheme for patients requiring reimbursement for travel costs. We also supported the team in delivering the change, providing guidance and support to policymakers and integrated care boards to improve their planning and commissioning around these vital services.
